Return here for weekly updates

There is flexibility in the required readings. Several sources can offer the same motivation for discussions and so you have some options.

Required Textbook: "Failure to Connect - How Computers Affect Our Children's Minds--and What We Can Do About It by Jane M. Healy is available in many libraries.

"Jane Healy, Ph. D., examines the advantages and drawbacks of computer use for kids at home and school, exploring its effects on their health, mental development, and creativity."

Recommended Textbook: "Microsoft Office for Teachers by Patricia J. Fewell and William J. Gibbs can be special ordered from the WOU bookstore, other bookstores or online.
When the going gets tough, we might even refer to a reference book.

Another Reading: another readings will be found on the Internet and will be assigned later.
Fools Gold: A Critical Look at Computers in Childhood from the Alliance for Childhood

And more Readings: as a graduate there be readings in journal articles with brief reports back to the class. Within certain topics you will be able to choose your own articles and the reports will have different but specific formats.
