Welcome to the group of planets known as the outer planets. These next four planets are known as the gaseous planets and not much is known about their surfaces. The first of these planets is Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system; it is so large that all the planets in our solar system could actually fit inside of it.
Jupiter was known as the King of heaven and Earth, and of all the Olympian Gods; he earned this title after he overthrew the God Saturn and the Titans.
The diameter of Jupiter is 142,800 Km- 88,736 miles, and is approximately 460 to 508 million miles away from the Sun. A day can last 9.8 hours, but a full year can be about 12 years here on Earth. Average temperature at the top of the clouds is about -101 degrees Fahrenheit. Jupiter is known to have one very faint ring and 60 known moons. The most interesting fact about Jupiter within its' giant Red Spot as it is a giant hurricane that is 24,680 miles long (about 3 Earths)!
From here, we will go ahead and travel on to the next planet- Saturn.
Here we are at Saturn, named after the Greek Cronus, son of Uranus and Gaea, who led his brothers and sisters, the Titans, in a revolt against their father and was then named King of the Gods before he was defeated by Jupiter.
Saturn is 119,871 Km (74,500 miles) in diameter with a distance of 840 to 938 million miles away from the Sun. A day lasts about 10.67 hours, but a year can take up to 29.5 years here on Earth; the temperature at the cloud tops is about -274 degrees Fahrenheit. Saturn has 31 known moons and many rings, rings that can be see right from Earth.
