Servings:The ammount of servings of fruits needed depends on sex, age, and activity level. The average serving need is about 1-2 cups. A cup of fruit looks like about a fistfull. |
Grains |
Health benefits: Fruits contin many nutrients that provide benefits for your body. Most fruits are low in fat, calories and sodium and no fruits contain cholesterol. Fruits contain fiber which makes you feel full faster which can help with weight management and reduce the risk of heart disease, and diabetes. Fruits also contain vitamins c which helps with growth and repair of body tissues, folate which helps the body form red blood cells, and potassium which helps the body to maintain a healthy blood pressure. |

Eating fruits: Fruits can be eaten in a variety of ways including fresh, frozen, canned, cooked, dried and blended. Fruits are a delicious snack all on their own, but you can also eat fruits by including them in a variety of ways in your meals. You can add fruits like apples, madarines and strawberries to salad, you can put fruit on top of cereal, and you can use 100% fruit spreads on toast or sandwhiches |

Fruits and sugar: Fruits are a natrual source of sugar which is part of the reason they are sweet. Replace sugary snacks with fruit can be very beneficial for your body. Also using fruit during baking for example using a fruit topping instead of whipped cream topping on a dessert is a yummy way to eat more fruit and sugar in a more natrual way. |
