A hurricane is a large whirling storm.

It develops over the tropical waters in late summer.

Heated air expands and rises over warm waters.

Now it creates a low pressure area that lets air in and causes it to spin.

The spinning air is a tropical storm.

When a tropical storm builds it becomes a hurricane.

Hurricanes can move inland and when they reach the beach they can bring a storm surge, which is a large dome of water.

Floods and high winds can cause a lot of damage.hurricane
