In 1990 the Plymouth Laser was first introduced with a body style that was later carried into the year 1991 and then changed from 1992 through 1994.  The two styles are referred to as “1ga’s” and “1gb’s”.  The 1g represents the first generation of the Plymouth Laser which refers to any year between 1990 and 1994.  The “a” refers to the first design that was used in 1990 and 1991.  The “b” refers to the second design that was used from 1992 to 1994.

Plymouth lasers were the rarest of the three DSM’s. The 1990 had slightly different bumpers than the 91’s but that is the only noticeable difference between the two years. The only difference between the turbo and non turbo model, aside from the engine, was a few decals, a bulged hood (although all the 2.0L engines required this bulged hood, only the 1.8L engines did not), different body trim in some locations, and a factory boost gauge in the dash.  The Laser RS turbo awd was not available until the year 1992.  Only the 1992 and newer turbo models came with spoilers. it appears that there was the least differences between the turbo model and the non turbo model lasers compared how the changes present in the talon and eclipses.
