Any vegetable or 100% vegetable juice counts as a member of the vegetable group. Vegetables may be raw or cooked; fresh, frozen, canned, or dried/dehydrated; and may be whole, cut-up, or mashed.

 

Some types of everyday vegetables we eat are:

carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, tofu, corn, green peas, potatoes, asparagus, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, grean beans, green or red peppers,

Vegetables are very important to our bodies these are the amounts of vegetables recomended for kids:

* 4- to 8-year-olds need 1½ cups of veggies each day.
* 9- to 13-year-old girls need 2 cups of veggies each day.
* 9- to 13-year-old boys need 2½ cups of veggies each day.
