NEW INFORMATION!
The licensure process has just gotten radically less complex. As of June '06, all you need to submit to TSPC is the C1-I form (click here to download from TSPC's website) and a check for $100. However, don't do this until about two weeks AFTER completion of your final quarter at WOU.

Licensure is a bit complicated here in Oregon so we've built these resources to be helpful as you move forward with securing a license. Basically there's two sets of information that get compiled - Western builds a pile of information on you and sends it to TSPC and you build a pile of stuff and send it to TSPC. TSPC matches the two piles up and issues a license when they both say the same thing. So... if an effort to ensure that both piles say the same thing, we ask you to help us build our pile!
Let's start by thinking about Western's pile. We will confirm that you have passed all your classes, have passed comprehensive exams, have paid all your tuition and fees, have completed all your field experiences... all the programmatic details and we basically vouch for you in the matters - that you have completed in with style and grace sufficient for licensure. The final piece of our puzzle is to complete the actual recommendation for licensure form - this form is called the C2. The C2 is actually done electronically and sent directly to TSPC but we have to know which buttons to push. So... to help us with this, you will actually complete our C2 Information sheet. The first step then is to download the C2 Information sheet (blank copy) AND the C2 Information sheet (copy with notes). Using the copy with notes to help you, you'll need to fill out the blank copy completely. The biggest thing here is that you will have to attach copies of ALL licensure tests (CBEST or Praxis I AND all Praxis II tests - including MSAT or ORELA if you took these). You'll need to bring the completed C2 Information sheet WITH copies of passing test scores to Lynne, Susan, or Mark on a date arranged during your student teaching seminar. From this information Western will make your teaching recommendation to TSPC!
Now... let's talk about your pile. Your pile is a bit bigger than ours and is composed of the following documents: First, official transcripts from all universities attended previously. You don't need transcripts from your community college courses if they appear or are accounted for in your BA/BS transcripts. You also don't need transcripts from classes you took that didn't count toward any degree - like the "gardening for novices" course you took at the extension office...or whatever. Now, the trick is that you need official transcripts from Western that reflect your completed MAT degree AND that has your recommendation for licensure recorded on it. So... we suggest you download the transcript request form (blank copy) AND the transcript request form (copy with notes). Complete the form using the copy with notes to help you and mail it to the Regisrar's office (see address on form) during the last term of your MAT program.
The second thing you need is official score reports from all licensure tests. Remember in the Western pile we asked you for copies of these... well, TSPC wants the originals - no exceptions! So if you need to request new official score reports from ETS or CBEST don't delay!
Third, you need to complete the Application for Educator License form - or the C1 form from TSPC. This is a complicated form as well so again, download a clean C1 (blank copy) AND a copy with notes to help you complete it (copy with notes). Fill out this form completely. The C1 says you also need to submit a First Aid card but that's not exactly true. If you have one go ahead and submit it as well but if you don't - no worries, they'll still issue you a license!
So... once your pile is complete and you have received official transcripts from Western you can send it all in to TSPC with a check for $100. Or, better yet, take it in to them and let them look at the documents to make sure you've got everything! If you screw something up they'll send it all back to you - except your check! By the way, TSPC will send your official test scores back to you because they know how important these are!
We know this is a pretty complex process and are here to help you through it all - these support materials are provided in this regard but call if you have other questions!
