Area of a Circle

The distance around the circle is called the circumference (c). The distance across the circle is called the diameter (d). The radius (r) is the distance from the center to a point on the circle.
(Pi = 3.14)

d = 2r
c = pd = 2 pr
A = pr2
(p=3.14)

Example: If a circle had a radius of
3 inches, the area would be 3 inches
squared, or 9 inches, multiplied
by 3.14, equal to 28.26 inches.
A = 32 x 3.14
A = 9 x 3.14
A = 28.26 in.
