Types of Herbs

What is an herb? A plant grown in temperate climates whose leaves are harvested for use.

How are they different from other plants? Herbs contain some natural ingredient that is useful for us!

Just to Name A Few:

Oregano: Gained popularity during the Renessiance, and the Age of Discovery along with Thyme. Represents a flavor of change as the Old world and New World merge!

Chives: Eastern Asia uses chives in a variety of dishes! Now, chives are used around the world to add flavor to many dishes...including baked potatoes!

Mint: used in the Middle Ages as pest repellent, in the Middle East as burn salve, and as tea in the Western Hemisphere

Lavender: Also used in the Middle Ages as a pest repellent along with Chamomille. Also used to make soap, soothe burns, and to lull an anxious mind to relax! Also great as a tea or drink flavoring!
