Merry Christmas

by Stephanie Combs

Merry Christmas

Ho, Ho, Ho

It's the jolly words

That everyone knows

Deck the halls

Spread good cheer

Live it up

It's only once a year

Wrap the presents

Decorate the tree

Make yummy cookies

for you and me

It's the Christmas season

A time for love and joys

But most of all

It's full of fun, new toys!

Missing Cookies

by Stephanie Combs

On Christmas Eve one night

You won’t believe what I saw

Instead of Santa eating cookies

It was my ma and pa.

I stomped out into the living room

And asked them why oh why

If you eat all of Santa’s cookies

He might be sad and cry!

I reminded them that stealing

Is never nice to do,

They told me that even Santa

Likes to share his cookies too.

I hurried back to my room

Knowing Santa was on his way

And when he sees the cookie crumbs

I wonder what he will say.

So I left another special note

That said it was not me

Who ate all of his tasty cookies

That I had put under the tree.

It read: Dear Santa don’t be mad

That your cookies disappeared

Maybe there is some leftover cookie crumbs

Hiding in your beard.

At midnight I lay and listened

To the snores of ma and pa

And expected to hear HO, HO, HO

But instead heard HA, HA, HA!

I ran downstairs as fast as I could,

And hid behind the door

I saw SANTA reading my note

And laughing more and more.

I cried out,

“Oh Santa, I’m so sorry your cookies are gone,

I know that eating cookies,

Is what makes this night so fun!”

He took my hand in his

And told me no more boo hoos

He said on Christmas Day

Even Santa shares his cookies too!
