Fake or Real Tree: That is the Question? There is nothing quite refreshing as the piney smill of a Christmas tree. That is when you truly know that Christmas is near. It has become an annual event in my family to bring the tree home, vacuum up the many pine needles that got loose and fell, and at last, start the decorating. Ornaments from decades ago are reminisced over and then carefully hung. Tinsel is sporadically thrown about, looking pretty wherever it lands. And finally the illuminating angel or star is perched on top. To me this how a Christmas tree should be presented, but more and more the all-too-popular fake tree is being assembled. Instead of the vibrant pine tree smill, you engulfed with dust, cobwebs and musty smells. Where is the spirit in that? To cut down a Christmas tree shows pride in choice, selection and just being rugged enought to make the effort! What effort does it take to open up a page of directions. To finish my plea I ask all the children, parents and Santa to the spread the word. Christmas just isn't Christmas with a fake tree! |
