Course Descriptions

CS600 - Fundamentals of Computers and Information Systems
      Explores the history, current and future role of information systems. Topics include systems theory, computing systems components and systems development.

CS620 - Database and Information Systems
      Covers database theory and application of databases. Focus on data modeling and data design. Relational databases and object-oriented databases will be examined. Students will construct an information system using current database tools.

CS650 - Networks and Communication
      Current and future role of the networked work place will be explored. Communication protocols will be explained and examined.

CSE603 - Professional Project
      All graduate students in the MS Ed-IT program will complete a professional project as a part of the final evaluation. This project attempts to share with the professional community information that may be used to enhance the common knowledge base of a particular profession.

CSE625 - Creating Internet Websites
      Technical and theoretical aspects of designing and creating a Website. Concentrates on develpment software and protocols associated with site design. Examines educational and cultural issues related to the use of the Internet and issues related to development of Web sites in educational settings. Students will create their own Internet Web site.

CSE655 - Internship in Information Technology
      This is an opportunity for the student to work in a setting applicable to their studies. Each student will design their internship with their advisor.

ED612 - Quantitative Research in Education
      Methods, techniques and tools of research. Development of a proposal for a study and development of the criteria and methods for reading and evaluating research.

ED626 - Instructional Design
      The application of the instructional design approach to the preparation of multimedia instructional products. The student will be guided through the development of instructional materials, including the application of the ID approach to the preparation of computer assisted instruction.

ED646 - Philosophy of Education
      A study of philosophical assumptions and their implications on the fundamental issues and practices of American education.

IS610 - Internship in Information Technology
      This is an opportunity for the student to work in a setting applicable to their studies. Each student will design their internship with their advisor.

IS625 - Project Development (also called CS607 in spring 2007)
      This course is under development.

IS630 - Project Implementation
      This course is under development.

LIB680 - Communication Theory
      Examination of theoretical models of communication and their application to various technologies of communication (e.g. print, vidoe, motion picture film, etc) to enhance training and instruction.

LIB686 - Emerging Information Technology
      A study of current and emerging information systems from a philosophical and practical perceptive. The origins, storage, transmission and retrieval of information will be explored, as well as the technologies which assist these activities.

PSY620 - Learning and Memory for Instruction
      A survey of contemporary theories of learning and memory. An emphasis will be placed on research involving cognitive, social, motivational, and biological aspects of learning and memory. Applications will focus on instructional settings.
