Along the Southern coast of Maui there is the extraordinary Makena Beach. This is also known to locals as the "big beach" which is fitting. This is one of the largest beaches in Maui and one of the few that requires an entry fee. With a cost of $1 for walk-ins or $5 for cars, the cost is well worth the experience. This golden sand beach is nearly 2/3rds of a mile long and 100 yards wide.

This beach provides excellent opportunities to swim or snorkel in clear waters or sunbathe in the near endless sandy beach. There is also picnic areas in the shade. There are lifeguards in various locations along the beach. This beach provides endless opportunities for amazing sights, as well as a relaxing fun time.

Makena Beach State Park
