A sow averages 12 piglets per litter and she can have up to 3 litters per year. That means up to 36 piglets per year!

Why do people raise pigs?

They are farmed for their meat and hides. Their meat is called pork and their hides are used to make leather.

Do they only live on farms?

No. Pigs can also be found in the wild. Wild pigs are known as the wild boar, the warthog, and the bushpig.
