Teaching Philosophy

I have come to assume that building relationships and creating trust in the classroom are crucial aspects of education. My role as the teacher is to supervise these interactions among the students, as well as discover multiple techniques and possibilities to encourage connections between the students in positive and educational ways. I will also use multiple intelligences to make sure I use different approaches in teaching the curriculum throughout the school year. I will incorporate different theories of learning and development when teaching my lessons, such as Behaviorism, Cognitive Learning, and Situative Learning. Behaviorism will be brought into the classroom when dealing with reinforcement, as well as to promote individual learning at times. Cognitive Learning will be used when the students are doing hands-on activities, as well as learning though self-discovery. Lastly, Situative Learning will be used when the class takes fieldtrips to study the curriculum in a different environment, as well as learn by doing real-life activities or role-playing scenarios. I hope to create intrinsic motivation for my students to learn and a safe learning environment for my students. Feel free to contact me any time with questions and/or concerns.
