Figurative Language
Figurative language is only one of the many tools that poets use to create a poem.
There are multiple types of figurative language. Many artists have a favorite style that they like to paint in- favorite colors and such... My favorite types of figurative language to use are similes and metaphores.
Similes and Metaphores are both ways to compare two seamingly unlike things. Simile's use the words "like" or "as" to compare them, while metaphores make these comparisons without the words "like" or "as."
