Why should we protect ground water?

Ground water is very susceptible to pollutants in our environment.  When we dump or are not careful about what we let seep into the water systems, we destroy our clean water. 

• If oil or other toxic chemicals end up in the river or soil, they make their way into ground water.

• Since the water is trapped beneath the surface of the Earth (in rocks and sand) it is incredibly hard to clean dirty ground water.
