There are almost 20,000 known species of bees in the world. Bees live on every continent in the world except for Antarctica. All bees have four wings, enlarged hind feet, and most have stingers. Bee's are very important because they pollinate our flowers and produce honey. A bee must visit over four thousand flowers to produce just one tablespoon of honey. Bees communicate with one another and let others know where food is by a series of dancing that is familiar to the other bees in their colony. Bees use the sun in navigation. Some people own bees and raise them in order to get their honey. These beekeepers must be very careful when they remove honey from the hive to try not to hurt the bees. The beekeepers give sugar syrup to the bees to replace the honey that they take.
