What is a Volcano?

• A volcano is a geological landform (usually a mountain) where magma (rock of the earth's interior made molten or liquid by high pressure and temperature) erupts through the surface of the planet.

• In simple terms a volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. It is a hole in the Earth from which molten rock (magma) and gas erupt.
