In the previous activity, you practiced being in situations of peer pressure. For the examples of negative peer pressure, you came up with ways to resist the suggested behavior or action. Below are some strategies that you probably used, and some additional strategies that will help you be most effective.

Resistance Skills

1. Say NO! in a firm voice.

2. Give reasons for saying NO.

3. Be certain your behavior matches your words.

4. Avoid situations in which there will be pressure to make harmful decisions.

5. Avoid being with people who make harmful decisions.

6. Resist pressure to do somehing illegal.

7. Influence others to make responsible decisions.

Activity: On a large strip of butcher paper, create a convesation strip that depicts a situation of peer pressure that you have experienced. Where were you? What was said? What did you say or should you have said to make the responsible decision? Make sure all of these are evident by using the illustrations, conversation bubbles, and thought bubbles. Add color for a final touch.
