Week Five
Discuss in
class the findings in chapters 18 and 22 as assigned. Written
reviews are due.
Discuss your
final project groups, your topic, goal and objectives. Submit
in writing as a group, your goal and objectives by Week 6.
Participate
in lecture on instructional strategies.
Read the Final
Project Expectations
Week Four
In small groups
of three or four, report to your classmates what you discovered
in your one week of informal research. Then report to the entire
class your findings.
Discuss in
class your review of the article on motivation as it is returned
to you in class.
Participate
in lecture on objectives and sequencing.
Select one
of two handouts, chapter 18 (ID in business) or chapter 22 (ID
in higher ed) and submit as written review in class in week 5.
Find the members
of your group for the final project and start discussion on your
choice of topics.
Week Three
Quiz on "What
do you consider most interesting or exciting to learn about in
Instructional Design." In other words, as a way of taking
control of your education, what would you like to learn? What
are you most interested in learning about?
Now take that
topic and find out everything you can about that topic before
next week and report back in class what you discovered. No written
assignment needs to be turned in to the professor, but it is very
important for you to write down some notes so you can refer to
them when you report in class next week.
If you don't
feel comfortable with your choice of topics, consider the topic
"Rubrics" and do your researching on that topic. Use
whatever sources you can dream up.
If the instructor
returned the first report (on chapter 6) back and asked for a
rewrite, do so by next week (Week 4).
Week Two
The class
will visit the Jensen Arctic Museum and select an item, a set
of items, a them or topic and present a brief presentation for
class during Week Three.
Presentations
will be prepared and presented by a group of three students. Each
will contribute to the preparation. Presentations will be 5-7
minutes long, will include a topic or them, a title, an audience
of the group's own choosing, and at least four (4) objectives.
Before each presentation the presenting group will explain their
audience, their setting, their goal and the length of their presentation.
Selected students in the class along with the instructor will
evaluate the presentations. Each group will also hand to the instructor
one written document describing all of the above mentioned items.
Find a journal
article on a topic related to motivation and learning/teaching
and write a brief review summary to be handed in in week 3.
Week One
During the
first week there is no assignment outside of class. The first
assignment is to attend that first class and take it from there.
A copy of
chapter 6 from Trends and Issues in Instructional Design and Technology
by Reiser and Dempsey will be given to the students to read. The
students will critique the questions at the end of the chapter
as to whether they are fitting for the chapter and the course.
The critique will be purely personal.
