Roald Amundsen was a Norweign who explored the polar regions. He was born on July 16, 1872 and disappeared during a rescue mission on June 18, 1928 at age 55. Amundsen, along with another Norweign pilot and three French pilots where looking for missing members of the Italia airship that had crashed while returning from the North Pole. Amundsen's body has never been found.
