Multigenre Writing Project

 

For this final six weeks students will be asked to read a ÒmentorÓ book and put together several writing pieces that are based on a unifying theme or topic. Topics could range from Kenya to Einstein to friendship. You get to decide, so pick a meaningful topic that truly interests you!

 

The multigenre writing project includes:

*Cover page

*Table of contents or introduction page

*2-4 p. Genre #1—most likely: expository, persuasive, or narrative

*1 p. Genre #2—poem(s) or other style of writing

*1-2 p. Genre #3—creative writing style (short story, news article, interview, diary, etc.)

*Pictures and/or drawings

*About the Author page

*Bibliography (3 or more sources)

Read and take notes. Immerse yourself in your topic—books, Internet sites, movies.

DUE—Note signed by parent or guardian.

 

Week 2, _________________________

Continue to read and begin drafting. Note/draft check.

 

Week 3, _________________________

Poetry and creative writing with draft check.

Editing/Revising/Finalizing/Response draft check.

There will be lessons throughout this project to help with your writing, along with daily workshop time. You will also need to plan for homework time. This is your grand finale project for seventh grade, so be sure to give it your personal best!
