 Oregon has a large amount of biking and hiking trails all over the place. Alost every state in Oregon has a trail that can be used for biking and hiking on it. Because Oregon is a state of forests you can enjoy your biking and hiking outings with great scenery. Below is a list of some trails in or near Monmouth, and locations of other trails in Oregon.

Equipment

The basic equipment needed to go biking is a mountain bike with good shocks, and a helmet. If you are just starting out then this is all the equipment you need. If you have been biking for a while or you are want to take it up as a life long hobby then other equipment you consists of bikker shoes, shorts, jerseys, and hydration packs. This equipment is for those who take this sport extrememly seriously and competatively. Like I said before, you only need a good bike and a helmet.

Basic equipment needed to go hiking is a good pair of hiking shoes. this is all you need. Other things that you may want to buy depending on the amount of hiking you are planning on doing is a hydration pack and a hiking stick. You dont need to have hiking cloths, but make sure you go hiking in something that you are comfortable in and that you can move in.

Helpful Hints

Make sure you you go biking or hiking with a buddy.

Only go on trails that are made for biking and hiking. If the trail says DO NOT ENTER then dont enter. Also, look for NO BIKES ON TRAIL signs.

Start off with smaller trails, then work your way up.

Make sure you take some food with you if you go for longer distances, you want to make sure you have enough energy to go the distance.

Always wear your helmet.

If you think a part of a trail does not seem safe, turn around and go the other way, DO NOT try and cross that part of the trail.
