Crater Lake is located in Southern Oregon. This amazing beauty was formed form when Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago. Rain and snow melt slowly started to fill in the large crater that was left. This lake is now 1,943 feet deep. No rivers or streams allow the water to escape or to enter; this is why the water is a pure blue.

In the lake there is some land that did not get submerged by water. This piece of land is referred to as Wizard Island. Wizard Island is surrounded by water and it is very rare for people to travel to the island.
