The Parts of a Plant

Our study of plant anatomy made use of the Eyewitness book Plant. One page has a  mature plant with labels explaining all of the parts and information about the role of each part.
After examining this book we had a group activity using a poster of a mature Brassica plant and magnetic labels. Students had to find the locations of the Flower buds, flowers, seed pods, seeds, leaves, stem, and roots.
One at a time students chose a label and placed it on the plant that plant part. Once the student placed the label the rest of the class, showed whether they agreed or disagreed with the accuracy of the placement. If students disagreed they could come up and help the first student find the correct location.

*This image is similar to, but not the actual poster used for the activity. Unlike this image, the poster did have both a seed pod and seeds.
