"Lighter than aluminum, stiffer than steel"

Beryllium is a naturally-occurring element that has a large number of industrial uses. This element is a metal that is lighter than aluminum, yet stiffer than steel. It resists corrosion, and serves as a good conductor. This metal’s properties have made it a popular component in various metal alloys. However, while safe in its solid form, the dust and fumes from beryllium pose a health hazard. This website is designed to provide basic information regarding the usefulness of beryllium, its associated health hazards, and sampling and analysis techniques for the workplace.
