Welcome To The Classroom, Be Connected!

This Weeks Agenda:
June 7th-11th 2010

Math:
Students are learning to find the area of a rectangle. Area is the coverage of a shape. To find the area of a rectangle multiply the length times the width, students are to do this without a calculator to practice their multiplication. For more practice at home have students find the area of a room in the house to find how much carpet they will need for that room. While finding the area of rectangles students are using units of measurements. Units of measurements are what you use to find the amount of something. Examples: inches, feet, centimeters. Ask your child what unit of measurement they will use when finding the area of a room. Hint: use a tape measure with feet to measure.
