The modern comic world has become a mixture of different styles of art. One of the most influencial styles are styles that come from Japan. Anime or Japanese animation has impacted the America in both animated and paper art.

The American style has always been dominated by Marvel and DC comics. Both companies have a strangle hold in the industry. From time to time other companies get a chance to shine, companies such as Darkhorse comics or Image comics. Their style has a strong emphasis on the asthetics of physique. There is large quantity of effort put into coloring and shading of their art.

The Japanese art style is very perculiar. One of the most distinguishing features are the faces of the characters. The eyes are over exaggerated. This is done because it facilitates expressions. The usual physique of a Japanese character is geared towards lenght. The majority of their time Japanese manga or comics are done in black and white.
