What We Will Be Doing

| Dec. 15-19 |
- Social Studies- We will be working within the civil rights unit focusing on Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and Rosa Parks.
- Language Arts- The students will be keeping daily journals, we will start looking at newspaper articles and discussing what are common themes in newspaper articles.
- Science- We will do several labs to introduce the idea of air pressure.
- Math- Students will start working with introductory algebra and develop beginning algebraic vocabulary.
- Art- This week, we are exploring African Art through time and we will create masks that are similar to those of african tribes.
- Music- Students will continue to work on music presentations for the Winter Concert.
- PE- Students will work on their "dance moves" for the winter concert.

- We will be having a Winter Party with the other 5th grade classes where they can create winter cards, have a white elephant gift exchange, and enjoy some delicious treats.
