Why Teaching?
I want to be a teacher because I am a person who wants to make a difference. When I decided to be a teacher, I was working a job that was simply that, a job. It was a job that didn't do anything for me; it left me feeling empty. At the time, I was also volunteering with a youth group in my community and found that I loved working with them. I thought that teaching would be a great field for me to go into because, in my eyes, it is one of the most tangible ways to be a part of the youth in our country. A teacher has daily contact and influence in the lives of students. Although there are times when the teacher is viewed as the "enemy" by assigning homework and enforcing rules, I still want to enter the education world because I believe that teachers make a difference. I want to be one of those teachers - A teacher who goes above and beyond for the sake of the students, someone who believes in them when they don't believe in themselves. School and education is something that takes up such a big part of kids' lives and really determines who they might become in the larger world. What an honor to be a part of the process that changes lives!
