##Welcome to Football Recruiting Simulator!
<img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/62/Pbts2.jpg" alt="Tiger Stadium" />
You are a position coach with the Oregon Tech State Tigers. Your season just ended with a 6-6 record, losing your final game to your archrival, Washington A&M University. This means that recruiting season is in full swing. You have some big decisions to make to turn your program into a winner! [[Your Head Coach calls you into his office...]]
Your Head Coach gives you the option to recruit one of two states: your home state of [[Oregon]] or the rich recruiting ground of [[California]].
<img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/02/Flag_of_Oregon_%28reverse%29.svg" alt="Oregon Flag" /> <img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/California_state_flag.png" alt="California Flag" />
#Recruiting Area: Oregon
Head Coach: "Alright, this is an important one. It's vital that we get all of the best guys in the state. You'd better start with this one."
[[Call Jerry Johnson, an Offensive Lineman from Portland High School]] <img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ed/Mo_Mitchell-University_of_Florida_-Offensive_and_Defensive_line_2013-09-19_12-10.jpg" alt="Title" />
#Recruiting Area: California
Head Coach: "Good choice, we need a bigger presence down there. We need to make sure that we get some big time players from this state. Call this guy first, he can be a game changer for us."
[[Call Robert Jackson, a Wide Receiver from Los Angeles High School]]
<img src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5335/9723274227_d00216aef1_b.jpg" width="80%" alt="WR" />
You call Jerry and talk on the phone for 15 minutes. At the end of the conversation, he informs you that Washington A&M University has offered him a full scholarship to play at their school, and that he really loves it there. Do you:
[[Wish him the best of luck and move on]]
[[Tell him he's going to love OTS even more]]
You call Robert and talk on the phone for 20 minutes. He really likes all you have to say and is a fan of the program! Do you:
[[Tell him you will call him later]]
[[Set up a weekend for him to come visit the campus]]
"Alright Jerry, well best of luck to you. We'll see you next year."
"Later Coach."
[[Two Weeks Later|Two Weeks Later]]
Jerry - "Coach, I'm not in the mood to be recruited. I'm going to A&M, and we're going to beat you again next year."
Coach - "Well I guess we'll see then. Best of luck."
[[Two Weeks Later|Two Weeks Later]]
Robert - "Sounds good coach, make sure you check out my recruitment page!"

[[One Week Later]]
Your phone rings, and you answer.
Jerry - "Hey Coach, it's Jerry. I got in some trouble a couple weeks ago. The charges aren't serious, but A&M dropped my scholarship."
You - "I'm sorry to hear that Jerry. What is your plan?"
Jerry - "Well, it doesn't look like I'll spend any time in jail. But I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm really just looking for a home, do you have a spot for me?"
Do you:
<ul><li>1</li> [[Tell him no and to try his luck elsewhere.]] <li>2</li></ul> [[Tell him that if he gets into school and walks on, he can earn his way to a scholarship.]] <li>3</li></ul> [[Tell him you have a full scholarship waiting for him.]]
You - "I can't do that Jerry, I'm sorry. Good luck to you."
[[Your Head Coach calls you on the phone]]
You - "Alright Jerry, you can come to school here and walk on, but you have to do these things:
* Make sure you are all square with the law.
* Get into school.
* Maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
* Volunteer in the community for four hours every week.
* Be a positive leader in the program.
Jerry - "Thank you Coach, you won't regret it!"
[[Your Head Coach calls you]]
You - "We've got a spot and a full-ride for you, Jerry! Welcome to the family!"
[[Your Athletic Director calls you]]
HC - "I know it was hard, but that was the right decision to make. Go talk to [[Tyler Patterson]] and see if we can get him instead."
###Meet Tyler Patterson, a stud Linebacker from Eugene High School
<img src="http://archive.azcentral.com/i/sized/E/E/A/e905/j1000/PHP4E6B124265AEE.jpg" width="80%" alt="Linebacker"/>
Tyler is an All-State Linebacker, a State Champion wrestler, and a Regional qualifying swimmer. Unfortunately, Tyler possesses a 2.4 GPA, meaning it is unknown whether he can get into OTS.
[[Call Tyler]]
HC - "You'd better know what you're doing here, because if he fails, it's on all of us."
[[Jerry]]
AD - "Just what do you think you are doing?! Our school can't afford to be tied up in these kinds of legal matters! If he fails, you fail, got it?!"
[[Jerry's Future]]
Jerry ends up being a great student, a great leader, and a great teammate. He earns a scholarship after one year of proving himself and becomes one of the greatest Offensive Lineman to ever play at OTS.
[[Your Head Coach calls you into his office]]
HC - "You were right about Jerry, he ended up being an outstanding member of this program. You did a great job with him and have been doing a great job overall. I'd like to offer you a promotion to Coordinator. Do you [[accept]] or [[decline]]?"
Jerry, having learned nothing from his brush with the law, spends his years at OTS in and out of trouble with the school and with the local police. In the middle of his Junior Year, he is arrested for Battery and receives a prison sentence.
[[You meet with the AD]]
AD - "Jerry was your responsibility, and his failure means that you have failed. After this season, you will no longer work for OTS."
[[Next Step]]
There is no next step. You made a dumb decision and these are the consequences. You lose, thanks for playing!
HC - "I'm really excited about the direction you can take our team. As the new Offensive Coordinator, you are going to want your own quarterback. I've found two very different QB's that I think will each fit us well, your choice!"
[[Pick the better running quarterback, Rudy Jackson]]
[[Pick the better passing quarterback, Travis Carson]]
<img src="http://cdn-s3.si.com/s3fs-public/sikids/multimedia/photo_gallery/1110/tim.tebow.rare.photos/images/tim-tebow2.jpg" alt="QB's"/>
HC - "Well, I have to say that I'm disappointed. I think you could really help us get to the next level."
[[Next]]
Tyler - "It would be an honor to be a Tiger, Coach! You just let me know what I need to do to get into school, I'll do anything. I gotta go now, I'm late for my shift at the Animal Shelter."
[[Visit Admissions]]
Admissions - In order to get into school, we need Tyler to do three things:
0. Apply to Oregon Tech State
0. Obtain 3-5 letters of recommendation
0. Write an essay to Admissions detailing why your college career will be more successful than your high school career
[[Inform Tyler]]
Tyler - "No problem, Coach! I'll get that done!"
Do you check in with Tyler [[once a week]] or [[once every two weeks]]?
Tyler completes his to-do list in a timely fashion and impresses the Admissions office. He is admitted into the school and becomes an immediate factor on the OTS defense, delivering hits like this on a regular basis.
<a class="embedly-card" href="https://giphy.com/gifs/wNplR2Ipmcd7W">Animated GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY</a>
<script async src="//cdn.embedly.com/widgets/platform.js" charset="UTF-8"></script>
Tyler never gets around to getting all of his to-do's done and fails to get in to OTS. He instead is admitted to a conference rival, California College. He blames you and despises OTS, leading to intense moments such as this. He terrorizes the Tigers for all four years of this college career.
<img src="http://cdn1.sbnation.com/imported_assets/816604/126317097_extra_large.jpg" alt="Menacing"/>
What, you think there's a next step? Those without ambition don't get to keep playing. You lose!
Rudy - "It's down to you and Washington A&M. How would you use me in your offense?"
[[We'll see if you can play here]]
[[I see you being main cog in our system]]
[[I see you bringing championships and MVP trophies to our campus]]
Travis - "I'm trying to decide between you and California College. Why should I choose you guys?"
[[Promise him immediate playing time]]
[[Promise to surround him with playmakers]]
[[Promise him $10,000 if he commits to OTS]]
Rudy - "Well if you aren't sure about me, then I guess my decision is made. I'm going to A&M."
Because of this decsion, [[here is your quarterback]]
Rudy - "I'm all about the team Coach, I think we can do great things together! I'm in!"
[[Rudy's Career]]
Rudy - "That's what I like to hear Coach! Let's bring the ship back to OTS!"
[[Rudy's OTS Career]]
<img src="http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/napoleondynamite/images/d/de/Uncle_Rico.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20120117222806" alt="Uncle Rico" />
Congratulations, your offense struggles the entire year, so badly that you are fired after just one season. You lose!
Rudy leads your team to a lot of success as OTS' starting QB, leading the most efficient offense in school history. Unfortunately, he never leads you to a national championship.
With Rudy in the driver's seat of your offense, OTS becomes a national powerhouse. After winning two national championships in his four years, Rudy is drafted first overall in the NFL Draft. In that same off-season, you are offered an Offensive Coordinator position with the Oregon Seals, a new expansion NFL team.
<img src="http://americanfootballfilms.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/nfl-logo.jpg" alt="NFL Logo" />
Travis - "Sounds great! I've always wanted to compete right away! I'll see you on campus!"
[[Travis' Career]]
Travis - "I kind of wish you already had the playmakers so we could be good right away. I'm not really into it, I'm going to go to CC."
Travis ends up being an All-Conference QB for California College, beating OTS twice in his four year career.
Travis - "Dang Coach, you aren't messing around. Sounds great, lets do it!"
[[Later that fall]]
Travis starts as a true freshman quarterback and struggles. OTS limps to a 4-8 record. Things steadily improve as Travis gets older, going 6-6 and 9-3 in Travis' sophomore and junior years. And in Travis' senior season, all the pieces come together for an undefeated season for the OTS Tigers, including a win in the National Championship game over Nebraska State.
<img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/assetsawardsco/1/21/DimThumbnail/T660-FTB.jpg?14178" alt="Trophy" />
<img src="http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee135/movementkids/MoneyStacks.jpg" alt="Money" />
Travis posts this picture to Twitter, causing the NCAA to come calling. They interview Travis about where he got all that money and he rats you out.
The NCAA asks you about the allegations of providing cash to recruits. Do you [[lie and say you don't know what he's talking about]] or [[fess up]]?
NCAA - "Well that's interesting Coach, because we have a receipt that shows you collecting $10,000 from your bank around the time that Travis committed. That's cause enough for us to impose a significant penalty upon OTS. We'll be in touch."
[[Two weeks later, the NCAA calls]]
You - "Yeah, I did it. But I promise, it's the only time I've done it. And it will never happen again."
NCAA - "Well, we will see how that factors in to our decision."
[[Two weeks later, the NCAA calls you]]
NCAA - "Due to your actions, we are imposing a five year postseason ban upon the Oregon Tech State Tigers, along with cutting their scholarships in half."
[[Your future]]
HC - "You really messed this up. We can't have you around anymore, you are a black mark upon the program. Pack your things, you're fired."
[[Your coaching future]]
What coaching future? You got caught cheating. You bounce around various youth football leagues, never getting your coaching career back on track. You lose!
NCAA - "Due to your compliance, we have decided to only impose a probationary period upon your program. However, we have decided to suspend Travis Carson for the upcoming season.
If you mess up in the probationary time, we will not be so lenient. But for now, you are good to go."
[[Travis calls you]]
Travis - "Coach, I just heard I'm getting suspended? What's that all about?!"
Do you [[admit fault and apologize]] or [[blame Travis]]?
Travis - "It's not all your fault Coach, I took the money. I should have known better. I'll come back next year better than ever, with a chip on my shoulder."
[[Next year]]
Travis - "That's crap Coach, you're a jackass. I'm outta here, thanks for nothing."
[[Travis Transfers]]
Travis comes out like a man possessed the next year and leads OTS to conference championships in all three seasons he plays. In his final season of play, he leads the Tigers to a national championship, cementing his status as the greatest Oregon Tech State quarterback.
Travis transfers to Nevada International and becomes a national phenomenon. He is outspoken in his disdain for the OTS Tigers and is overjoyed when NI and OTS meet in the national championship during his senior year. After Travis leads NI to a late touchdown to take the lead, you have time for one play. Do you call:

[[Sit down with your Head Coach]]
Robert goes on to be the greatest wide receiver in OTS history. He routinely makes great catches look ordinary, quickly becoming a major draft prospect for the NFL.
After being drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft, your [[phone rings on a Monday night]].
NFL GM - "Coach, we've been following your progress for a while now and we think you'd be a great addition to our coaching staff. What do you say?"
You - "[[Absolutely yes!]] or [[I can't do that right now]]
HC - "Now it's time to go get someone else. Take your pick of who you think is the best player in the area."

Mr. Green - "Say no more Coach, I've done this before. We'll take care of your boy. What's his phone number?"
[[Robert arrives on campus]]
Your phone rings:
You - "Hello?"
NCAA- "Yes, Coach? It was reported that your program purchased a vehicle for a recruit. After following up, we've determined that is true. Because of that, we are imposing a ban upon you from coaching in the NCAA for ten years."
