~  Field Trips ~
  • Parents and Guardians are always welcome to join us on field trips.  A volunteer form must be on file in the office prior to the trip.
  • All field trips are funded through fund raisers, no money is needed.
  • A permission slip must be turned in two days prior to the field trip in order for student to participate.                                
September 24                              

During the month of September we visited an apple orchard to learn about harvesting.  The students were able to help the farmers pick apples which we used for snack for the rest of the week.

October 15

During the month of October we visited the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins to carve for Fall.  The students learned about seeds and also what the key ingredients are for anything to grow, even themselves.

November 14

During the month of November we visited the local library to hear a famous author read to the students.  The students were able to ask questions about the authors career as a writer, as well as questions regarding reading to spark more interest in literacy.

December 18

During the month of Decemeber we will be visiting the retirement home to sing holiday carols to the elderly living there.  Students have been practicing their singing since the beginning of the year.  Students will  also be creating holiday cards on Friday December 14th to take with us.

January 18

During the month of January we will be going to Mt. Hood for a day in the snow.  We will tie it in to learning about weather and different seasons.  Students will be educated on widlerness survival skills as well. 

February 14

During the month of February we will be going back to the senior center to deliver Valentine cards we will be making February 8th in the afternoon.

March 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 
21        

During the month of March we will visit the aquatics center to go through six swim lessons.  Swimming is a life skill and this will be an opportunity for each child to be introduced to the water. 

April 25

During the month of we will be visiting the Oregon Coast.  Many students never have to opportunity to visit the beach and it is a great example of geography in Oregon.  We will be learning about oceans and sea life during the month of April.

May 9

During the month of May we will be visiting the Green House to pick out some flowers for a special project.  We will learn about five differern types of flowers through literacy. 

June 6

During the month of June we will be visiting the local park in order to participate in a First Graders Olympic Games.  We will incorporate healthy living styles in the curriculum during June as well as talk about the upcoming olympics in Beijing during the Summer of 2008.
