A triangle is a basic geometric figure, that contains three vertices and three straight line segments.
Triangles are classified by the lengths of their sides in relationship the the other sides.
There are three different classifications of triangles, these classficiations are: equilateral, isosceles, and scalene.
An equilateral triangle is a triangle that has all equal sides and all equal angles.
This picture depicts an example of an equilateral triangle.
An isosceles triangle contains two sides which are equal in length.
Isosceles triangles also have two congruent angles.
All equilateral triangles are also considered to be isoscles triangles, but not all isosceles triangles are equilateral triangles. This is an example of an isosceles triangle.
Lastly, the scalene triangle. All sides and all angles on a scalene triangle holds a different measurement.
The picture provided above, demonstrates a scalene triangle.
