Triangles

TRIANGLES

  • A triangle is a basic geometric figure, that contains three vertices and three straight line segments.
  • Triangles are classified by the lengths of their sides in relationship the the other sides.
  • There are three different classifications of triangles, these classficiations are: equilateral, isosceles, and scalene.
  • An equilateral triangle is a triangle that has all equal sides and all equal angles.
  • This picture depicts an example of an equilateral triangle.
  • An isosceles triangle contains two sides which are equal in length.
  • Isosceles triangles also have two congruent angles.
  • All equilateral triangles are also considered to be isoscles triangles, but not all isosceles triangles are equilateral triangles. This is an example of an isosceles triangle.
  • Lastly, the scalene triangle. All sides and all angles on a scalene triangle holds a different measurement.

  • The picture provided above, demonstrates a scalene triangle.
