Altocumulus Clouds

 

Appearance:

usually white or gray

occurs in sheets or patches

Composition:
ice crystals and water droplets
Altitude:
between 8,000 and 20,000 ft
Interesting Fact:
Altocumulus often come before a cold front. On a warm, humid day their presence can be an indicator of thunderstorms.
