Answer:

It takes Isolde 3 weeks to eat 1 pound of chocolate.

Explanation:

If Tristan eats can eat one pound of chocolate over six weeks, then he can eat 1/6 of a pound of chocolate in one week.

If it takes Tristan and Isolde eat the pound of chocolate in two weeks, then Tristan would have eaten 2/6 of the chocolate in those to weeks. That means in two weeks, Isolde will have eaten 4/6 of a pound of chocolate alone, or 1/3 pounds a week.

If Isolde eats 1/3 of a pound a week, then it would take her three weeks to eat all the chocolate alone.

Congratulations on successfully solving the Math Forum's "A Pound of Valentine's Chocolates" problem.  You did a very good job of explaining all your steps along the way. In particular, I like how you explained how much chocolate Tristan ate in two weeks and how you stated how much chocolate was left after Tristan ate his amount of chocolate. I also appreciate how you separated your work into paragraphs, where in each paragraph you  explained a mathematical step you used to solve the problem.  I do have a few suggestions though that would make your solution that much better.

Can you explain how figured out that Isolde ate 4/6 of a pound of chocolate in 2 weeks?  Although you stated Tristan ate 2/6 of a pound of  chocolate in two weeks, another student may not understand how you determined the amount of chocolate Isolde ate.   Similarly, I see you said Isolde ate 4/6 of a pound of chocolate in two weeks.  How did you then determine she ate 1/3 of a pound of chocolate in one week?  You really did very well explaining most of your steps.  I just want you to make sure a student reading your solution can understand all the steps you took to solve the problem.

My final suggestion would be to include a reflection.  In this reflection, you can discuss a hint you might give to a fellow student.   You could also  talk about any errors you made along the way and how you corrected them.  I was really impressed by your work.  I look forward to reading your revision.
