Types of Current

• Direct (dc) current

  • electric current that flows in a single direction
  • devices that run on batteries use dc current

• Alternating (ac) current

  • electric current that reverses its flow direction at regular intervals
  • the type of electricity provided by power utilities
  • runs most modern appliances

• dc current can be converted to ac using an inverter
