The 2008-09 year will mark season number 14 at Western Oregon for assistant coach, Tim Bowman.

Bowman had been the leader of WOU's offensive line during his first 10 years. During the last four years, has worked with the defensive line while coordinating special teams. He is also coordinating the recruiting efforts for the football program.

Bowman has coached 32 All-Conference honerees, three of them earning All-American accolades. One of Bowman's long term projects became WOU's first player selected in the NFL draft when Brian Crawford was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in 2001. Crawford retired in 2004 while with the Seattle Seahawks. Prior to being drafted, Crawford was selected to play in the Cactus Bowl, the NCAA Division 2 All Star game, where he was selected as the Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman of the game.

Bowman came to Western Oregon after spending two years as an assistant football coach at McKay High School in Salem, OR. His McKay squads qualified for the 4A State Playoffs both years. Prior to his time at McKay, Bowman spent two seasons as Defensive Coordinator at Woodburn High and has also coached at Newberg and Yamhill-Carlton High Schools.

Bowman's previous collegiate coaching experience includes four seasons (1986 and 1988-90) as an assistant at Willamette University, having worked with the linebackers and defensive line. He also served as a Graduate Assistant at Idaho State in 1987, working with tight ends and wide receivers while pursuing his Master's Degree in Athletic Administration. In addition, he spent two seasons (1982 and 1985) as an assistant at Linfield College. The Wildcats won the NAIA Division II National Championship in 1982.

Bowman graduated from Linfield College in 1981. He was a four-time letterman at Linfield (1977-80) and earned All-Northwest Conference honors as an offensive guard his last three seasons. The Wildcats qualified for the National Playoffs three times during his four years in McMinnville. Tim has been selected to the All 80's Team as an offensive guard and was also inducted into the Linfield College Hall of Fame as a member of the 1982 National Championship team.

Bowman is a member of the WOU Special Admissions Committee. He has also been a member of the WOU Faculty Development Committee and the HPE Admissions Committee. Nationally, he has been a member of the NCAA Division 2 Assistant Coaches Committee for the National Football Coaches Association. Bowman has also been a speaker on a number ofl occasions at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinics in Portland, OR and Hawaii.

Over the last six years, he has also coordinated and directed the Line of Scrimmage Camp, held at WOU for high school offensive and defensive linemen. He has also worked various other football camps in Oregon, Hawaii and Alaska.

Bowman was born in Caldwell, Idaho, but grew up in Kailua, Hawaii. Tim and his wife Anna, reside in Salem. Anna is a Site Tech Coordinator where she oversees all technology at Judson Middle School within the Salem-Keizer School District. Older son Daniel (23), graduated from WOU in 2008 with a degree in Health and Geogrphy and is currently working toward completion of his private and commercial pilots license. Younger son Jeff (18), graduated from Sprague HS in 2008 and will be majoring in Business at the University of Oregon.
